The weight of the world

Parenthood often feels like taking on the weight of the world. In the pursuit of providing our children with the best, we sacrifice pieces of ourselves without question, sometimes losing sight of our own passions and dreams. The demands of daily life can erode the spark that once fueled our creativity and ambition, leaving us exhausted and disconnected from the things that once brought us joy.
Being diagnosed and living with cPTSD has made this struggle even more profound for me. It's a constant balancing act between managing the responsibilities of parenthood and confronting the shadows of trauma. I've made sacrifices without expecting anything in return, just to ensure my child has a life that feels safe and stable. But in doing so, I found myself slowly fading into the background, feeling lost in the chaos of it all.
Getting back on track has been challenging. Rediscovering my passions and reigniting that creative spark takes time, patience, and self-compassion. It’s been a journey of healing and reclaiming my sense of self. I’m learning that it’s okay to prioritize my own well-being because, ultimately, a fulfilled parent is better equipped to nurture and support their children.
As the school year approaches and the holiday season draws near, I'll be opening my books with a renewed sense of excitement. There's something about this time of year that brings a fresh wave of inspiration, coupled with the comforting anticipation of seeing both new and familiar faces. Whether it's the return of clients I've come to know or the chance to connect with new families, the energy is contagious, reminding me of why I love what I do. This season feels like an opportunity to embrace creativity again, to channel the passion that has been lying dormant.
It's not just about the work; it's about the connections. Capturing moments for families during the holidays or seeing the kids grow as they return for another school year has a profound impact on me. These experiences ground me, helping me realize that despite the challenges, the spark is still there. I'm eager to share my journey with others, and I hope this season serves as a turning point in reigniting the fire for both my work and personal growth.
It's a time of reconnection, both with others and with myself.
